The Arizona Diamondbacks will be going green at Chase Field starting Friday as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies, with help from Arizona Public Service Co. and Fox Sports Arizona.
The team’s three-game homestand will feature more than 780,000 kilowatt-hours of green power purchased through APS. The pool in right field also will get a new pool pump, courtesy of an APS rebate.
Throughout the games, APS will provide information about programs for homeowners, and Fox Sports will broadcast tips.
“APS has been a visionary leader in regards to energy efficiency and we are proud to once again partner with them for our green series,” said team President and CEO Derrick Hall. “We enjoy educating our fans and front office on the many programs and options available to live our lives more efficiently, and believe our games against the reigning National League champs provide the perfect stage and setting.”
APS also will have representatives at the game to inform people about energy efficiency and will be giving away compact fluorescent lightbulbs to certain sections. The first 5,000 children ages 12 and under at Sunday’s game will receive a hat made from recycled bottle caps.
