Big Events, Retail Openings Coming To CityScape

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

CityScape continues to produce big headlines with marquee events and retail openings on the horizon. Here’s what looms at the mixed-use urban project.

Rock-N-BowlA at Lucky Strike Lanes

lucky_strikeLucky Strike Lanes will host a fundraiser for Team Fox benefiting The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research on Wedneday, June 1. This celebrity bowling tournament, called Rock-N-BowlA, will also showcase the music of local indie bands Incidental, Mike Gooodrick and Replacing Jenny.

“Rock-N-BowlA is a fantastic example of what Team Fox is all about – bringing communities together and having a great time while raising critical awareness and funding for our Foundation’s work to cure Parkinson’s disease,” said Michael J. Fox in a release. ”Whether the bowlers roll strikes and spares or gutter balls, the real winners of these frames will be Parkinson’s patients everywhere.”

For more information on Rock-N-BowlA visit Lucky Strike Lanes Phoenix on Facebook.

Oakville Grocery, Copper Blues Eye Memorial Day Weekend Openings

Stand Up Live has been playing to packed audiences since opening last month and the comedy club’s sister venue, Copper Blues, is on schedule for a Memorial Day Weekend opening. The upscale bar and restaurant will feature a menu by Aaron May (Vitamin T), live music, and over 60 beers on tap. If you’ve visited Stand Up Live to see comics like Carlos Mencia, Jo Koy or Rodney Carrington, you’ve no doubt seen the awesome patio area that the two venues share and gotten a peek at Copper Blues’ spectacular layout.

Baseball fans who attended CityScape’s Opening Day Tailgate got their first taste of Oakville Grocery in the form of some delicious grilled sausages and the store should be fully open for business by Memorial Day. The gourmet food and catering company will offer an expanded product line, from basic staple items like milk, cheese, eggs and toilet paper to artisanal olive oils and gourmet spices. Oakville has also sought out the very best locally made Arizona products and will highlight them on their store shelves.

Here are some more CityScape coming attractions…

Nobuo Opens, Tilted Kilt Coming Soon

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The summer heat hasn’t hampered the Downtown dining scene.  Every week brings welcome news of restaurants expanding or new additions to the dining landscape.  The recent influx of restaurants prompted the creation of a new annual publication from the Downtown Phoenix Partnership.  The Downtown Dining Guide 2010 is the Bible of Downtown dining, highlighting exciting new eateries as well as the established classics we all know and love.  For more information or to get your copy read this blog post by the creators of the guide.

NobuWe are still counting down to the opening of the retail portion of CityScape in the fall and this week brings news of a major addition to the restaurant lineup.  The New Times Chow Bella blog reported that Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery will open later this year, an exciting complement to the 14 other restaurants already signed on.  If you’ve ever been to the Kilt, you know the good food and cold beer isn’t the only reason to go.  The first two restaurants are expected to open later this month with Lucky Strike Lanes and Five Guys Burgers & Fries getting it all started.

AZCentral reported the long-awaited grand opening of Nobuo at Teeter House is right around the corner.  Nobuo opened for lunch on Wednesday and will gradually expand hours and menu options throughout the summer.  The James Beard Award-winning Fukuda is hosting a dinner open house today through Saturday, July 24th, an excellent opportunity to sample dishes from the menu.  For more information please visit:  Nobuo at Teeter House to open for lunch July 14.  For a look at the lunch menu please visit: Nobuo at Teeter House Update:  Lunch Menu.
