Happy Holidays, Downtowners!

‘Tis the season for glittering trees, hanging the holiday banners with care and gathering friends and family close.

Join us as we celebrate the season with cocktails, movies under the stars, outdoor ice rinks and more. With events ranging from New Year’s Eve bashes to dozens of performances of the Nutcracker, the holidays happen Downtown.

Tree Lighting and Ice Rink

Ice skating on Central Avenue? It’s a holiday miracle! This year the CitySkate rink is bigger and better than ever and we'll celebrate the grand opening Nov. 29 from 3-8 p.m. Festivities will include the lighting of Downtown's holiday tree, special performances on the community stage, appearances from City officials, plus vendors and photos with Santa.

This event is free but please bring a non-perishable food donation benefiting St. Mary's Food Bank.

Spirits of the Season

Now in its third year, Spirits of the Season is a themed cocktail competition pitting Downtown mixologists against one another in a battle for holiday drink supremacy. The contest begins Nov. 29 and voting closes Dec. 17 with the winner announced on Dec. 18. Drinks will be available at participating locations through Dec. 31. All drinks are under $10. vote here.

PJs in the Park

Put on your favorite, most comfortable pajamas and board Downtown’s own Urban Polar Express—METRO Light Rail—for a holiday movie double feature at beautiful Civic Space Park Friday, Dec. 5.

Bring your family. Bring your friends. Bring your holiday spirit. And definitely bring plenty of blankets to sit on and curl up with. We’ll provide hot chocolate and snacks.

Polar Express begins at 6 p.m., followed by Elf. Rumor has it there will also be a visit by Santa himself.
